Pinnacle Pocket breed Senepol, Senepol composite and Droughtmaster cattle for Northern Australia.
The Pinnacle Pocket operation is based on the Atherton Tablelands with the home property located between Yungaburra and Atherton on the Barron River. Both the Senepol and Droughtmaster breeder herds are run on a leased property, located on Forest Country 10 Km South-west of Ravenshoe. Additional grazing country is sometimes used through agistment agreements.
Pinnacle Pocket runs a quality, performance recorded herd of 50 select purebred Senepol females based on Hercules, Wizard, Kings Alpha, PRR2110L(US) and WC719H lines sourced from the best available quality genetics in Australia, supplemented by semen from selected sires. From time to time the original foundation herd is supplemented through the acquisition of selected genetics from other Senepol Studs. We use only purebred Senepol
Bulls in an operation comprising Senepol purebred cows and a selection of
Droughtmaster females to produce specific herd bull genetics for clients.
Both conventional and Artificial Insemination reproduction techniques are
used to maximise production. However, all calves are raised from weaning in
the Tablelands Region - fully adapted to the tropical climate, ticks and
buffalo fly.
The Pinnacle Pocket Droughtmaster herd consists of 68 breeders based on
Billabong, Wallace Vale, Vale View, Warrina and Mooma Park bloodlines.
The stud applies strong selection criteria to retained bulls and replacement
heifers with emphasis on polledness, sheath, testicles, slick coat,
fertility, temperament and structural correctness.
Both stud and herd bulls are available for inspection throughout the year
with the bulk of bulls rising two years of age in the spring/early summer of
each year.
Most Pinnacle Pocket bulls are sold with a Bull Breeding Soundness
Evaluation performed by a certified veterinarian.
